Ethics & Artificial Intelligence Statement

How Findmino and CareerCube use artificial intelligence responsibly, safely, and transparently.

Last updated: April 2026

This policy is available in English, French, and Spanish. In the event of any discrepancy between translations, the English version shall prevail as the authoritative text.

Findmino and CareerCube are built on a simple belief: everyone deserves honest, clear guidance about their career — without being profiled, manipulated, or sold to. Career exploration should be human-centered, ethically grounded, and genuinely useful. That belief shapes every decision we make about how our platforms work, how we use artificial intelligence, and how we handle the data entrusted to us by students, educators, institutions, and working professionals.

1. AI Philosophy: Honest, Not Sycophantic

Our platforms use artificial intelligence to help users explore careers, understand academic pathways, and assess how a changing world of work may affect their futures. We are deliberate about how we deploy AI — and equally deliberate about what we refuse to do with it.

What our AI does

  • Surfaces relevant career profiles and study paths based on a user's expressed interests and quiz responses
  • Provides honest analysis of how technology and automation are reshaping specific career fields — including roles that may contract, and emerging roles that may grow
  • Helps users connect academic choices to real-world career outcomes
  • Identifies career pivots and adjacent pathways users may not have considered

What our AI does not do

  • Tell users what they should be or what careers they are 'destined for' — we surface options, not verdicts
  • Generate fabricated career data or speculative salary projections without a documented basis
  • Use engagement-maximisation techniques (dark patterns, notification loops, anxiety-inducing prompts) to keep users on the platform longer
  • Make high-stakes decisions about a user's future without human involvement

We believe AI in career guidance carries real responsibility. A recommendation that steers a young person away from a field they are suited for — or fails to flag that a chosen field is being disrupted — has consequences. We take that seriously.

2. Transparency & Explainability

We do not use black-box AI. When our platforms make a recommendation or provide an assessment, we design for explainability:

  • Career match logic is based on disclosed interest and personality inputs, not inferred behavioural signals harvested without user awareness: Career match logic is based on disclosed interest and personality inputs, not inferred behavioural signals harvested without user awareness
  • AI career impact analysis cites its reasoning: users can see why a role is assessed as growing, stable, or at-risk
  • No hidden scoring: we do not assign users hidden scores, compatibility ratings, or risk profiles that influence what they see without their knowledge

Users can always ask "why am I seeing this?" and receive a meaningful answer. We are committed to ongoing transparency audits of our AI features and will communicate material changes to how our recommendation systems work.

3. Data Privacy & User Protection

We do not sell user data. Ever. This is a founding commitment, not a policy subject to revision based on business conditions.

Student data (Findmino)

  • Students own their career exploration data
  • Institutions that license Findmino receive access to aggregate, anonymised analytics — they do not receive individual student data in identifiable form
  • We collect only what is necessary to deliver the service
  • We do not use student data to train third-party AI models
  • We do not share individually identifiable student data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties outside our direct service delivery
  • Students and their guardians may request deletion of their data at any time
  • Data is retained only for as long as necessary to deliver the service or as required by applicable law

Professional users (CareerCube)

  • Working professionals using CareerCube retain ownership of their career exploration data
  • Employer integrations, where applicable, are governed by explicit consent and disclosed terms
  • We do not surface individual employee career pivot data to employers without the employee's explicit consent

4. Regulatory Compliance

Our platforms are built with compliance as a foundation, not a retrofit. We maintain active compliance with:

FrameworkScope
FERPAProtection of student educational records (U.S. K-12 and higher education)
COPPAProtection of children under 13; parental consent workflows for applicable users
GDPRData rights for users in the European Union and applicable jurisdictions
GLBAFinancial data protections where applicable in higher education contexts
WCAG 2.1 AAAccessibility standards for users with disabilities

Compliance documentation is available to institutional partners upon request. We engage independent review of our data practices and update our policies as regulatory requirements evolve.

5. Equity & Access

Career guidance has historically reflected and reinforced existing inequalities — directing students from under-resourced communities toward narrower sets of options, and leaving working adults without the support that professionals in elite networks take for granted. We are committed to doing better.

  • Our career database represents a wide range of pathways — skilled trades, entrepreneurship, public service, creative fields, and emerging roles alongside traditional professional careers
  • We do not allow demographic proxies (ZIP code, school type, inferred income) to narrow the career options presented to any user
  • We actively work to identify and mitigate bias in our AI outputs, including regular review of whether certain career fields are being systematically under-recommended to particular groups
  • We offer pricing tiers and pilot programmes specifically designed to make Findmino accessible to under-resourced schools and districts

We acknowledge that bias in AI is an ongoing challenge, not a problem to be declared solved. We will publish updates on our equity review process and welcome external scrutiny.

6. Human Oversight & Curation

Our career database is human-curated. Real-world career information — role descriptions, salary ranges, education pathways, day-in-the-life content — is researched, reviewed, and updated by a team of subject matter contributors, not generated wholesale by AI.

  • AI assists in the organisation, search, and personalisation layer; humans are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the underlying content
  • School counsellors, career advisors, and HR professionals remain essential
  • Findmino and CareerCube are designed to support those professionals — not replace them

7. Our Commitments Going Forward

Ethics in technology is not a statement; it is a practice. We commit to:

Annual ethics review

A structured review of our AI systems, data practices, and equity outcomes, with a published summary

Stakeholder feedback

Clear channels for students, educators, institutions, and professional users to raise concerns about our AI or data practices

No silent pivots

Material changes to how we use data or AI will be communicated to users and institutional partners before they take effect, not after

Third-party accountability

We welcome and will pursue independent audits of our AI and data practices as the platform scales

Questions about our AI Ethics?

We are committed to transparency and welcome your questions, concerns, or requests — including data deletion requests, compliance documentation, or feedback on our AI systems.
