Job Description

Calculate, measure, load, mix, and process refined feedstock with additives in fermentation or reaction process vessels and monitor production process. Perform, and keep records of, plant maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections.

A Day in the Life

You pull into the plant parking lot before dawn, the air already smelling faintly of ethanol and feedstock. Inside the locker room, you swap your street clothes for flame-resistant coveralls, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and your hard hat. After clocking in, you head to the control room for the morning shift change briefing. The outgoing technician updates you on the current batch status in Fermenter 3 and any overnight anomalies recorded in the Distributed Control System (DCS).
