Lighting Technician

Set up, maintain, and dismantle light fixtures, lighting control devices, and the associated lighting electrical and rigging equipment used for photography, television, film, video, and live productions. May focus or operate light fixtures, or attach color filters or other lighting accessories.

AI will increasingly automate repetitive setup, programming, and basic troubleshooting for lighting technicians, significantly enhancing efficiency. This necessitates a shift towards roles focused on overseeing AI systems, refining creative designs, complex problem-solving, and mastering new intelligent control technologies, rather than full replacement. The role will evolve to leverage AI as a powerful design and execution tool.
