Production, Planning, and Expediting Clerks

Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

AI will significantly automate routine tasks like data entry, basic scheduling, and order tracking for Production, Planning, and Expediting Clerks. This shift will likely transition their roles towards higher-level functions, requiring them to interpret AI-driven analytics, manage complex exceptions, and leverage these tools for strategic optimization and proactive problem-solving. Clerks will need to adapt by developing skills in data analysis, system oversight, and critical decision-making based on AI-generated insights.
