May specialize in fields such as biostatistics, agricultural statistics, business statistics, or economic statistics. Includes mathematical and survey statisticians.

AI will increasingly automate routine data analysis and model building, shifting the statistician's role towards higher-level interpretation, validation, and strategic problem-solving. Statisticians will need to master AI/ML tools, understand their limitations, and collaborate closely with AI engineers. Their expertise in ensuring data quality, statistical rigor, and ethical application of AI will become even more crucial.
