A Day in the Life

Your alarm blares before dawn, but you're already stirring, eager for the day. You pull on your sturdy uniform, grab your keys, and head to the primate building. After clocking in, you check the shift log for overnight notes from security or other keepers. You grab your radio, clip it to your belt, and perform the first rounds, scanning the macaque habitat with your binoculars. Every rustle and quiet chatter is noted; you’re looking for any subtle changes in behavior or health before the busy day begins.

Future Perspective

Stable Job Market

Impact of AI on this Job

AI is beginning to enhance animal monitoring through automated behavior tracking systems and predictive health analytics that help identify illness patterns. Smart feeding systems are being developed to optimize nutrition delivery, while AI-powered cameras assist in continuous animal observation. However, the hands-on care, relationship building, and emergency response aspects of zookeeping remain fundamentally human-centered and irreplaceable by technology.
